Licences & Membership

BJC Licences and Application FormAll members starting with the club will be required to pay an initial payment of £5.00 (for Primary and Juniors) or £8.00 (for Seniors).  This payment will cover your first training session and includes a Provisional Licence and Insurance along with Membership to the BJC and our club.

This Provisional Licence and Insurance will last for a period of 3 months following which you will need to purchase a Full Licence which must be renewed on an annual basis.  A Provisional Licence will not enable you to grade or take part in any events other than those held at this club.  Full Licences can be applied for through any of the club instructors.

As a result of policy changes by our governing body we are not allowed to let any members on the mat unless they hold a current full or provisional licence.  As a result we will now be renewing all licences prior to their expiring.  We will advise members / parents of any impending renewals, but will automatically be renewing licences so as to ensure that they do not lapse.  If you do not want a licence renewed it is the members / parents responsibility to inform us in advance, otherwise we will renew the licence and present you with an invoice.  The alternative would be to prevent members form training until their licence renewal is paid and then received back from our governing body.

Licence Cost and Application

The costs for the Provisional Licence are detailed above.  Full British Judo Council Licences, which need to be, renewed on an annual basis, cost £21.00 (including insurance) for New Junior Members and £26.00 (including insurance) for New Senior Members, Licence Renewals cost £18.00 and £21.00 respectively. These need to be ordered through the club instructors and the costs are reviewed annually by the British Judo Council Head Office and increases implement from the start of September each year.

To apply for a Provisional Licence or a Full British Judo Council Licence you will need to complete an application form.  These are available from either Adrian or Adam
